Drug lords executed by firing squad during Martial Law

Sino drug trafficker executed

January 16, 1973

Death by musketry!

This was the price exacted by society at 6 a.m. yesterday from drug manufacturer-merchant Lim Seng alias Gan Suo So, at the KDR Range in Fort Bonifacio, Rizal.

It could have been a costly price but is the ‘living death’ of more than 350,000 dope addicts not by itself a costly debt to society?

An eight-man firing squad — prompt, precise and punctual — executed Lim before a hushed and indifferent early morning crowd.

Death came to Lime barely two minutes after the execution squad fired at him from a distance of 25 paces.

It was only at 3:58 a.m. yesterday, when he was awakened in his cell at the Constabulary stockade in Camp Crame, that Lim knew he was scheduled to die.

Lt. Col. Simplicio Ouano, PC provost marshal and officer-in-charge of the firing squad, read before Lim the order of execution of his death sentence.

The execution order was read to him in English but it was only when Ouano explained in Pilipino the significance of the order that Lim fully comprehended what was to take place.

Lim appeared calm; he even managed a smile.
